mobile design | design challenge
The project was a week camp where participants took classes on design
software and design theory in the first week. The goal of the camp was for
participants to address a design challenge at the end of the camp, and the end
design was a new method of interaction for users celebrating birthdays and trying to
raise money.
How might we raise awareness and get more people interested in donating to birthday fundraisers?
The challenge was to increase awareness and donations for users celebrating their birthdays who also want to raise money for charity. The specific problem was to identify potential pain points that users may encounter or barriers that prevent them from donating.
My solution was an “in feed” widget that would allow a user to learn more about fundraisers and birthdays happening at the current time.
This would allow users the chance to see birthday fundraisers outside of the main notification tab- increasing awareness and also giving a brief synopsis of the fundraiser. It includes things like mutuals who have donated, a progress bar and the person who is hosting it.
In this model there is also two call to actions for users- either sharing it to a group, feed, or messaging group or a call to action to donate.
